The essential oil of E.dives contains (-)- α-phellandrene in a state of approximate optical purity.
[Smith, Henry George, Peter George Carter, and John Read. „CXII.-Researches on phellandrenes. Part II.“ Journal of the Chemical Society, Transactions 125 (1924): 930-940]
Major components of the essential oils of chemical varieties of Eucalyptus dives („Type“, „Var. A“, „Var. B“, and „Var. C“) of Eucalyptus dives were piperitone, 1.8-cineole, and α-phellandrene.
[Hellyer, R. O., et al. „Chemical variation within Eucalyptus dives.“ Phytochemistry 8.8 (1969): 1513-1514]
The essential oil of E.dives leaves was dominanted by compounds like piperitone (40.5%), α-phellandrene (17.4%), p-cymene (8.5%) and terpinen-4-ol (4.7%).

„The term industrial oil is commonly used to describe the use of the EOs as raw materials for
the isolation of their chemical constituents. The industrial EOs are characterized by high levels of
phellandrene and piperitone, and mainly obtained from E. dives species.“
