Deciduous vine, up to 6m tall, native to Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, introduced to China, grown elsewhere as ornamental.

Main compounds of the headspace of the flowers were methyl benzoate, methyl salicylate, and linalool. Minor components were (E)-β-ocimene, (E,E)-4,8,12-trimethyl-1,3,7,11-tridecatetraene, benzaldehyde and benzyl benzoate.
