Coryanthes kaiseriana G.Gerlach - Orchidaceae - Kaisers bucket orchid

Ant-garden orchid native to Costa Rica and Panama.

The main compound of the headspace of C.kaiseriana flowers was 2-(methylamino)benzaldehyde (68.2%), „…which is characterized by a peculiar dusty, leathery, but still sweetish odor.“
Other components are e.g. sabinene (14.1%), 1,8-cineole (1.9%), trans-sabinene hydrate (2.1%), (E,Z)-1,3,5-undeca-1,3,5-triene (0.2%), 2-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde (0.4%), methyl N-methylanthranilate (0.3%), 2-aminobenzaldehyde (anthranilate aldehyde, 0.3%), massoia lactone (0.01%), methyl anthranilate (0.01%), methyl cis-(Z)-jasmonate (0.01%), indole (0.02%), (Z)-dodeca-2,6-dieno-5-lactone (1.2%), and (Z,Z)-dodeca-2,6,9-trieno-5-lactone (0.03%).
