An olfactory investigation of guaiacwood oil led to identification of 13 odorant compounds. The main compound, bulnesol, "...was identified as possessing a delicate rosy note and was characterised by all panellists as providing the highest odour contribution (FD 2048). An intense fruity note was perceived at 21.5 min and was assigned to β-ionone [FD 256]." \\ | An olfactory investigation of guaiacwood oil led to identification of 13 odorant compounds. Other typical notes identified were leather (guaiacol, FD 32, FD 8 and 4-propylphenol), clove (isoeugenol, FD 128 and eugenol, FD 64), and vanilla (vanillin, FD 16). Guaiol was perceived as 'rosy, powdery' (FD 8).\\ | Other typical notes identified were leather (guaiacol, FD 32 and 4-propylphenol, FD 8), clove (isoeugenol, FD 128 and eugenol, FD 64), and vanilla (vanillin, FD 16).
