The major components of the oil (steam distillation, yield 0.5%) of fresh aerial parts of Tanacetum annuum L. from Morocco were chamazulene (17-38%), myrcene (1-14%), sabinene (4-8.6%), β-eudesmol (3-7%) and camphor (4-18%).

The essential oil (steam distillation) from fresh aerial parts of T.annuum contained sabinene (22.3%), camphor (13.2%), β-pinene (10.1%), p-cymene (8.9%), α-phellandrene (7.6%), myrcene (6.0%), α-pinene (4.9%), and limonene (4.2%). Minor components were eg chamazulene (2.8%), borneol (2.7%), terpinene-4-ol (1.3%), valencene (1.1%), and thymol (0.8%).

Main compounds of the hydrodistilled essential oil (yield 1.2%) from T.annuum growing wild in the area of Tangier (Morocco) were myrcene (13.6%), camphor (12.6%), sabinene (9.4%), α-pinene (7.7%), α-phellandrene (6.9%), chamazulene (5.8%), borneol (4.7%), limonene (3.78 %), terpinene-4-ol (2.8%), 3,6-dihydrochamazulene (2.1%), β-pinene (2.1%), and β-caryophyllene (2.1%).
