Armando Hunziker stated in 2001, that the taxonomic history of Acnistus arborescens is remarkable, since to this date it has received 29 botanical names with 17 different epithets associated to 6 generic names. But the case has grown yet more remarkable as in 2026 no fewer than 11 genera to which the plant has been assigned since it first became known to science. wikipedia
The many white flowers along the twigs emit a characteristic sweet aromatic floral scent. Main component of the headspace is (E)-ocimene (46.0%). The characteristic accord is generated by 3,5-dimethoxytoluene (32.0%), jasmone (1.1%), anisaldehyde (0.2%), and methyl anthranilate (0.2%).
